Graduate Program

Welcome to Graduate Studies in Indigenous Studies

The MA in Indigenous Studies will provide students with an immersive multidisciplinary graduate experience that centres Indigenous studies research methods and critical Indigenous studies theories, such as, creation, theory, ways of knowing, and epistemologies while placing community-reciprocity at the fore. Focusing on regeneration and resurgence-based programming, students will be trained to be leaders in Indigenous-led community-based research, Indigenous knowledge creation, and/or policy.

The MA in Indigenous Studies offers:

  • A diversity of critical Indigenous studies theories and perspectives.
  • A research-intensive environment focusing on effective Indigenous studies research methods with critical mass of highly active and engaged Indigenous faculty with an excellent record of ongoing externally funded research.
  • An opportunity to engage in experiential learning in Indigenous studies and recognize the critical importance of community-based expertise and community-based research in Indigenous studies as an elemental function of the discipline and the importance of community reciprocity.
